Back to work, and a weekend off.

Labor Day marks the end of summer, and the beginning of "No Sleep 'til Rhinebeck!" for me. I start ramping up production, trying to get a few new pieces made, and generally buckle down. With the kids home everyday over the summer, it is hard to do much more than keep up with orders. But, with them at school, I have a predictable workday. Whew! UPDATE: Jewelry is not subject to the new tariffs, but many goods you might purchase from other artists are. However, I do want to let my Canadian customers know that I talked to CBSA Border Information Service today, and I was informed that any item coming into Canada through the mail, and valued over $20 CAD can be/is subject to a provincial tax. For example, if you are in Quebec, you might be charged the 15% tax, plus the handling fee of $9.95 CAD. I say "can be" and "might" because as the person at CBSA told me, it is not automatic,...

Hi Friends, I usually don't say too much about charitable giving around here, but this time I am coming to you for help, and I want to reward you for your good deeds. An elder in our fiber arts community here in Chicago is in pretty dire need. Judy has been a fixture at YarnCon over the years, and I would see her at Sifu Design Studio on Friday nights when she would come by to hang out and pick up her daughter, who is a talented dyer and knitter. I never meant for so much time to pass before writing about Vogue Knitting LIVE Chicago, and what I have been up to. It has been a wild and busy month! Vogue Knitting LIVE Chicago was a lot of fun! Chiagu and I partnered up again, and we had a beautiful double booth right across from the fashion runway, which meant we had a great view of all the fashion shows, and of the interviews conducted by Vogue Knitting Editor, Trisha Malcolm.
